Garlic Lemon Swiss Chard Recipe

An Antigonish FM recipe by Elizabeth Talbot, Diabetic Intern.


  • 1 bunch of Swiss Chard

  • 1/2 a Lemon, Zested and Juiced

  • 2 Garlic Cloves, Minced

  • 1Tbsp of Olive Oil

  • Fresh Ground Pepper to Taste


  • Wash and dry swiss chard.

  • Chop stocks into 1 inch pieces.

  • Roughly chop leaves into 1 1/2 - 2 inch pieces. Keep separate from stocks.

  • Heat pan over medium heat and add olive oil to pan once heated.

  • Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds -1 minute, until fragrant.

  • Add stocks to pan, bring heat down to medium-low, and cover pan. Cook until crunchy.

  • Add leaves, lemon zest, and lemon juice to pan and sauté uncovered until wilted.

  • Remove from heat and add fresh ground pepper.

  • Serve and enjoy!
